Take A Picture, It Will Last Longer. Or, Paint A Picture. Portrait of a Generation at The Hole Gallery Shows How It's Done!

You have until August 10, 2012 to see the fabulous Portrait of a Generation show at The Hole Gallery, (312 Bowery, Soho/LES), but why wait? This show features over 100 of today's hottest, contemporary New York artists who make up the art scene in this fine city.  Each has made a portrait of another to give image to this community of people. The works are hung salon style throughout this huge gallery, so plan to spend a little time. You won't be disappointed. The best of the best (artists in the city and beyond), are here, friends!

My favorites were Jeanette Hayes' painting of Fab Five Freddy, (above) and his of her. And of course, the works by Kembra Pfahler, Alex Prager, Yoko Ono, Maripol, Wes Lang, Sharon Needles...oh the list goes on, I can't pick. But you get the idea. To see all of these killer artists in one setting is a treat. They are also producing a catalogue for the exhibition that will serve as a "yearbook" for New York City 2012.

Kembra Pfhler by Kenny Scharf and below, he, by her...
Vanessa Prager by Alex Prager
Rene Ricard by Maripol, a NYC ICON

ThreeAsFour By Yoko Ono, below Yoko Ono by ThreeAsFour..
I love painting on the BACK of a canvas! Why did I not think of this??

There is so much more to see, this is just a glance.  I'm going back again this week to shoot even more photos! Once again The Hole Gallery is located at 312 Bowery, (Soho/LES), and check out the gallery/store next door.

Yayoi Kusama ART + Louise Vuitton FASHION = Collaboration Magic!

Serious art / fashion mix right here friends!  French fashion house Louis Vuitton is about to launch it’s latest collaboration with Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama, and it’s sure to be the biggest art/fashion explosion of the summer.   See below for a variety of images of Kusama and garmets, bags, jewelry and shoes designed especially for this collaboration.   Her iconic dot patterns of red, white, yellow and black (her signature color combination), mix brilliantly on the pieces tempting art and fashion lovers alike. The collections names “Infinitely Kusama” will be avaialbel on July 10, 2012, two days prior to the opening at of the artists retrospective at the Whitney Museum here in New York City.

This collection has a strong connection with Louis Vuitton’s previous collections, as the brand is not much different from Kusama’s work in the way it splashes its logo across each bag: the highly visual designs cover every item with a beautiful, cheerful touch to achieve the same classy allures the brand has become renowned for.

Yayoi Kusama is renowned throughout the world for her repetitive, rhythmic work with polka dot patterns. Throughout the years, she has assiduously covered paintings, drawings, sculptures, films and performances, creating gigantic installations where, in an attempt to share her psychological traumas and fears, she immerses the viewer in her obsessive vision of endless dots and nets or infinitely mirrored space. This year, Kusama’s polka dots will also be covering some of the most fashionable items in the world: following a trip to Tokyo where he met the artist, Marc Jacobs decided to celebrate Kusama’s unique style in an extensive collection named “Infinity Dots collection” for the Louis Vuitton label.

If you’re on an iPhone you can download the LV x Kusama app where you can check out exclusive images, and includes a polka dot feature that allows you to take photos and drop in art elements x Yayoi Kusama.

An Alley Packed With Cats! Hanksy At It Again With Will Ferrell Felines at Freeman's!

Summer street art is here and Hanksy is at it again!  This time with Will Ferrell Feline Cats.  All 13 are located in Freemans Alley, off Chrystie Street (near Rivington), in the L.E.S. The comedy icon’s mug is the latest celebrity face exploited by humorous street artist Hanksy, who placed several pieces with Ferrell’s head attached to a cat’s body in the alley. (Remember the recents; Ice Ice Baby with Vanilla Ice and of course Marty McFly?)  The pieces are entitled Ferrell Cats, yes, pun intended. One work even includes the faces of actor Colin Farrell and rapper/producer Pharrel alongside Ferrell’s for good measure. This little photo journey will take your through the alley to see them all! Let's begin....
And with Andy Warhol above, priceless!
Notice the Tim Hanks over the ear....thus "Hanksy"
On to the next with Pharrell....below you can see the size, they aren't much bigger than real cats....an alley packed with cats....

Love this one with the smirk...below, a view of the door this feline has taken over
Maybe one of the best, another Ron Bergundy smirk, priceless, you have to look close to spot this one...oh how I love this alley!
Below one left that is always burried behind the bikes of the restaurant workers...hard to get a good shot but still think it works!

HANKSY HAS DONE IT AGAIN!
