This mural, curated by Miami based Goldman Properties, (who is responsible for the incldredible art growth in Wynwood), marks Hick's 10th year anniversary since coming to the big apple. His career grew at a solid pace since day one and ten years later (20 years creating art), he happily attacked this incredible 20'x100' block long wall entitled "The Story of My Life," with his layers of stencil skill magic few have achieved.
You'll notice below hundreds of portraits on this wall as Hick's explains that nearly every person represents someone he knows personally. At the beginning of summer Hick's and curator Lori Zimmer arranged a meet up / video shoot on Greene Street in Soho. He shot extensive video and tons of photographs and after a few months the stencils were ready to go.
The wall began in late July but had to be stopped three days into it, with already a huge amount of progress due to water damage behind the wall. It was repaired and Hick's started again from ground zero in the blazing heat. This is the result of a week of non stop work in the 95 degree hot and humid weather, a beautiful art wall that we hope could be a permanent fixture. It certainly is 100% New York City!
