Did You Miss The HUGE Gallery Showings Last Thursday in Chelsea? Yes? Then See This! Judith Supine, Fahamu Pecou, Jeff Soto & More...

Last weeks mega gallery showings in Chelsea had the streets jumping-some say, just as much as the previous Thursday, which was the kick off of the art season.  Finally!  Once the clock struck 6:00 p.m., you could barely move, crowds everywhere, at every. single. gallery!  I went to about 20 galleries to do what I do, and will post a two part series.  If you've missed them...then here you are.  But, as always, go see in person.

A photo doesn't justify this magnificent contemporary art by Judith Supine, Jeff Soto, Trey Speegle, The Sartorialist / Scott Schuman, Marc Seguin, Fahamu Pecou and many more.  Oh, and I bumped into Mikhail Baryshnikov at Cheim & Reid, talk about good timing.  He will be in the next set of pics, but they are fairy candid.  We don't stalk. We observe, shoot and report back.  Have a look at Part I.... Let's start with Jonathan LeVine Gallery with Jeff Soto's "Decay And Overgrowth."  There are tons of pics to show here so you'll see less text, more art.  Visit the gallery's website or in person to learn more about each artist.  Right here, Jeff Soto, you know I love skulls (well crafted, well done skulls, like McQueen or Zadig & Voltaire), and his fit the bill of course.
All on wood panel board, you must see these up close to appreciate all of the fine details.

Also at the gallery Audrey Kawasaki's Midnight Reverie....prints are available of some of these, but going very fast!
My reason for running to Jonathan Levine in the first place... Judith Supine! Her show entitled "Too Much For One Man"

Wouldn't be me without throwing in drops of new Chelsea street art....

Over to Mike Weiss for Marc Seguin with "My Century (An Illustrated Guide For Aliens)," showing until October 13, 2012.
