My Four-Favorite-Famous.....

Is it art or fashion, or both?  (It's just heavenly.)  Yes, I have 10 posts of recent happenings just waiting to be written about - but first....indulge me.  Today, more "art" as I came across some artful portraits I've had in the files of my "four favorite famous men."
Each is a unique piece of art that I wish I had hanging in my place, the pieces capture the men significantly.  My number one is probably Pierce Brosnan, or Bowie.  Oddly, each is from a different medium; musician, designer and actor(s.)  Did you know that Pierce is also an artist?  Or that Christopher Walken is from Astoria, N.Y.?  Or that Bowie (& Iman live on the L.E.S.)
Have a look at this art, friends......
THE MUSICIAN
Pixel Art, David Bowie by Nicola Felaco, (on canvas)

THE DESIGNER

Alexander McQueen by Burton Machen, recently show at Hionas Gallery (Portraits Project), TirBeCa, NYC

THE ACTOR
Also from Astoria, NY; Christopher Walken by Grzegorz Domaradzki, I think, forgive me but not sure on correct spelling. I love this one, always have.

THE ACTOR (& ARTIST)
Ah, my favorite; Pierce Brosnan,1986 - Photographer unknown, yes, I need to know. Wasn't that cool?!

Tomorrow, all the art photos from Chelsea Gallery Walk this past week and CHANEL CHANEL & more CHANEL, the book exhibit! Come back tomorrow!

Art & Fashion Mix from Rachel Perry Welty & Cecelia Paredes, You're Eyes Are Not Deceiving You!

New Art / Fashion Mix right here:  Today's post highlights two of my new favorite artists; Rachel Perry Welty & Cecelia Paredes.   You'll see the similarities, I almost thought they were the same artist at first a while ago, similar to the embroidery / photography posts I did last month.  First up, Rachel Perry Welty who will be showing at Yancy Richardson Gallery, May 24 - July 6, 2012 (opening reception that I can't wait for on Thursday, May 24, 2012 / 535. W22nd, 3rd Floor), I believe this is a "Vogue prints series"  more info on the artist at  www.yancyrichardson.com.

Now for Cecelia Paredes.....see what I mean?!  However hers are acid free photograph prints. All the info on Cecelia Paredes can be found at http://dlfinearts.com/ - which is located in Miami, but the gallery was represented at PULSE and all the art fairs.  I've been fond of this gallery and her selections for a while. You will too as you follow Ms. Paredes, I love these. Fashion, style / art - my kind of mix!  Look close to see all the details....

Images found on both gallery sites listed above, no, I didn't take them, I wish!

W Hotel New York Times Sq. Hosts the First Ever Instagram Exhibit!

This past Thursday evening I was NYC’s first Instagram photography exhibit at W Hotel Times Square, I showed up early to "Instagram the Instagrams!"   Well, many are Instagram, many are the fancy camera, unedited of course, (because that would be "wrong.")  Have a look....

The event was in parntership with W New York – Times Square as they invited 6 mobile photographers to share their work under the theme “design” – expect images of architecture, patterns, and street art.@whotelsnyc also ran a successful and fun Instagram competition, urging any Instagramer to tag their photos #wdesign for a chance to win a grand prize that includes a two night stay at the hotel. I sadly didn't win, but you can see those who did here.
For more info: http://www.wnewyork.com/wdesign

Here you will see views of the lounge area with many insta's hanging, others are close ups...
Our bartender Patty and the live Times Sq TV feed, love that!
This was my favorite, you can see why - but much better in person.
And another favorite....un-cropped, etc.

Oh wait, loved these too!
Stop by the hotel in "the middle of the madness," known as Times Sq., it's worth it.  Hop right off the train and directly into the W and avoid the zillions of tourists. It's worth the nice W lounge and seeing Instagrams come to life.

A Dreamy Discovery from Paul Cassidy!

This wonderful fashion photography today made me fall over upon opening my email from www.trendland.net - one of the best sources for art, fashion and design. These images are from Paul Cassidy  at http://www.paulcassidystudio.com/.  (Much, much more available to view on his website.) And, a bit of other credited info as these people surely deserve it.  Amazing mix of fashion & art in  a "dreamscape" sort of way, I wonder where one can buy these prints!?

Post and Colour Art: Cristina DurĂ¡n, Styling: Kattaca, Art Direction: Pablo Perez Sanmartin, Make-up: Vicente Oviedo for MAC

My New Thing: Fashion Photography As Art, Literally "Blurring The Lines."

Top: Alexander McQueen display dress. Bottom: Both taken at where else? Bergdorf's Fifth Ave. For some reason I'm enjoying blurring fashion photography, especially as it "hint-hint" blurs the line on art and fashion. Maybe I'm on to something?  You'll see more of this. Soon they will load on my art site too - icon to the right or www.leannavalenteart.com
