Fashion + Art + Embroidery = Magical Work of Inge Jacobsen

There have been a ton of "summer in the city - street art" posting lately, and there's about to be more as the events keep coming!  But, I'm not forgetting my fashion people, I need to give you a little something more too; meet Inge Jacobsen. Combining fashion and art through embroidery, stitching has never looked so good.  If you are a fan of the glossy cover as I am + art + a unique way of doing things = you'll love her work too.
More info on Inge Jacobsen (born 1987, Ireland), can be found on her website at http://www.ingejacobsen.com.  I found some of these photos below there, but most were found wandering about on the internet and I knew she would be a perfect ART/FASHION MIX feature. Very inspirational!  (Oh, and do visit my site at http://leannavalenteart.com/painting.html to see what I do with my covers.)
Many works are commissioned from the magazines and designers, etc. as you'll see a big feature from NYLON magazine....
Coming up: Ladies First Graffiti in Harlem and More from Hendershot Gallery's (Re)Print show.

Fashion & Art Collide with Rachel Perry Welty!

There's not much of a better art & fashion mix I could feature than the art of Rachel Perry Welty. Showing through July 6, 2012 at Yancy Richardson Gallery in Chelsea.  In this new series, shot for VOGUE, Welty all but disappears into pattern, fabric and color, delving into consumerism - and almost being swallowed whole by it!
These amazing works of art were viewed and analyzed by both art and fashion lovers who walked away highly inspired.  A few women were design students at Parsons and spoke of how they cut class and simply could not miss this show - with good reason!

I love taking photos of those looking at art especially when they resemble in the art in some way. Thus, this photo.  Sneaking up on people is fun!  But seriously, notice how she does "fit in?"
A look at the large framed pieces....
Visit:  Yancy Richardson, 535 W22nd, 3rd floor, Chelsea, NYC  http://www.yanceyrichardson.com/
The show is part of a group series in Richardson's Project Gallery Space, part of The Party's Over show. Photos and features on that event coming up!

MEGA PHOTOS FROM THE ADVANCED STYLE BOOK SIGNING WITH ARI SETH COHEN TOMORROW!!
