Catch It By Wednesday! "Love Never Saved Anything" - Brilliant Exhibit By Logan Hicks!

PMM Art Projects presented an amazing exhibit by Logan Hicks recently entitled "Love Never Saved Anything" - you can catch it from 11:00am to 7:00pm through March 19th, 2014 at 154 Stanton Street, New York.
Logan Hicks is a New York-based stencil artist whose work explores the dynamics of the urban environment. Originally a professional screen printer, Logan's work has gained major recognition for its ability to capture city life in a haunting manner using many layers of hand-sprayed stencils In what he said was first a substitution for screen printing, stenciling has now became is medium of choice. He captures the tough, gritty nature of spray paint showcasing the decay of the city and it's that symbiotic relationship with the city that fuels his work.
The exhibit continues downstairs with Logan's photographs, one seen above

A show not to be missed and taking eight months to complete, this is a rare treat for street art and contemporary fans as it's execution and details will amaze the beholder.  I have been a big fan of Logan's for a while and one of my favorite pieces is located at Wynwood Walls in Miami. It went up a few years ago and is still standing today while other artists works have come and gone.

For this body of work, Logan departs from his architectural works he is most known for (as at Wynwood), and experiments with underwater photography (using a variety of models. A couple are in the photos below.)  He staged a variety of shots to explore nautical narratives that are "Love Never Saved Anything" references his experiences from the year prior inspiring themes surrounding water and its symbolism to express what he was going through at that time.  The canvases are results eight months of deeply detailed stencil work and layers of spray.  The result is equally beautiful as it is haunting and must be seen in person.
