RIME Debut Solo Exhibit at JLG Not To Miss!

An exhibit I have been waiting for since announced late last fall is non other than Brooklyn born and based, acclaimed graffiti artist RIME, (a.k.a. Jersey Joe.)  This is his debut solo show "Conclusions" is taking place at Jonathan Levine Gallery through March 19, 2016 at the (original) 529 W. 20th Street location with new, exhilarating canvas paintings accompanied by a few special, large wood works.
RIME has over twenty-five years of experience in graffiti and is recognized as an esteemed artist with adventurous style. Influenced by cartoons and his outlandish life experiences he is an idiosyncratic storyteller, allowing improvisation to guide his brush and narratives. He is part of the MSK cru and the artists collective The Seventh Letter (both Los Angeles based.)

RIME began painting graffiti at the age of twelve in Staten Island and spent his teenage years developing his skills and creating his own brand of characters. By 2003 he had earned international recognition under the handles “Rime” and “Jersey Joe.” In 2005, RIME moved to Los Angeles and has exhibited in cities around the world, including solo shows at Galerie Wallworks (Paris) in 2014 and 2015. Have a look and be sure to catch it by mid March....

Cobi Moules IS a "New Kid on the Block," Brooklyn's Eddie Martines & More in Chelsea

New gallery shows are in full effect in Chelsea, New York City as the galleries are showcasing their best in the new year.  Starting off with Brooklyn's Eddie Martinez "Salmon Eye" at Mitchell-Innes & Nash, to a group exhibit at Mike Weiss, and finally my much anticipated Cobi Moules at Lyons Wier.

First, check out Martinez show running through March 5, 2016...

See more by Martinez by visiting the gallery at 534 W26th Street and www.miandn.com and @miandn and #eddiemartinez, not to miss.

Another stellar group exhibition at Mike Weiss Gallery with a variety of artists in all mediums but the sculptures sole the show... Visit the gallery at 520 W. 24th Street with more info here: http://www.mikeweissgallery.com.
My favorite pick is multi media artist with these insane, priceless sculptures; Adam Parker Smith, visit @adamparketsmith to see more or the gallery's site for info on the other artists.

My most anticipated showing was Cobi Moules at Lyons Wier at 542 W24th Street, running through March 5, 2016.  Moving back and forth between lust and friendship, Cobi has created the childhood relationships that could have been."  He re-explored imagining his life with each member of the band but rejecting Danny altogether, to become "that new kid."   He positioned himself with the other members in a unique ways, appearing in each painting.   These small paintings are a definite must see up close.

Until next week...
