Tracey Emin's American Year - Can You Handle HIt?

Tracey Emin tells Modern Painters Magazine that she is having "a big year," (years), in American.  At the age of 50,  (which she claims to be a "late bloomer" in the art world, not!), she has no shortage of mega shows and installations.  With Times Square billboards, galleries, and a big museum show on the way, the British artist is taking over America.  Earlier this year she exhibited a mega-light show in Times Square displaying her illuminated quotes just before midnight to crowds of thousands, also featured on a recent cover of ArtNews. (I could write a ton as I've been following her for years, but you don't want to read - you want to see the event, right?  Google her name to grasp the full scope of her talent and enormity.)
Her "American" presence is growing stronger each month as she has a double exhibit entitled "I Followed You To The Sun," at Lehman Maupin Gallery http://www.lehmannmaupin.com (Christie St. & Chelsea - 540 W26th St.)  This past Thursday she made a special appearance at the Christie Street location to sign her latest catalog / book(s) "I Followed You To The Sun," and "My Photo Album" as well as stacks that fans brought for her signature. The photos below are from this first event, the second was at the Chelsea  location and both are on view until June 22, 2013.  Her fifth solo show at the gallery features over 100 works of art, including a series of sculptors, paintings, drawings, and a file.  More big news; Emin will also have her first American museum show at MOCA Miami in December 2013, just in time for Art Basel. (She currently lives in Miami as well.)  Have a look at the book signing....
